SILENT
PATH
'Mourner
Portraits'
(Hypnotic
Dirge Records)
Count
De Efrit, or else Saman Nu, is the creator of the enchanting project
‘Mourner Portraits’.
The man behind Ekove Efrits,
offers us the most fascinating project of the Iranian dark metal
scene: the one-man band Silent Path.
Unlike the works of Ekove Efrits,
Silent Path
has more blackened funeral doom elements, ending up to a much more
depressive and melancholic sound, appropriate for the imagination’s
lone wandering. Reminding of Morgh,
Nortt and
especially Atriarch
and Nadja,
in terms of haunted and suffocating atmosphere, Count De Efrit
creates a fully pessimistic album. The almost whispering vocals are
mixed up with dull growls full of sickness despair, while the riffs
and the keyboards, along with the sound of rain result in an even
more sorrowful and hopeless scene. All the songs are slow but at the
same time extremely painful and emotionally strong. The ambient
influences are widespread in the whole album, making this project
more mesmerizing and remarkable, leaving you speechless and unable to
think, while listening to it. This epic album leaves you with a
feeling of being lost in a foggy forest, from where you do not want
to return. Needless to say that the next album of Silent
Path is being expected with agony and
great interest. [9]
